Airbaby Guide; In-Depth Post #5a
Alright guys, here’s the Airbaby Freeze guide, as promised. I split the freeze into 3 (progressively harder) steps. Enjoy!
BEFORE YOU START:
- Do you have an open space with enough room for you to fall either direction and stretch out?
- Are all 4 of your limbs uninjured?
- Do you not mind potentially faceplanting? (I got a bleeding nose practicing this. Granted, it was a combination of badĀ luck, bad timingĀ and me not paying attention, but it still hurt. A lot.)
- Determination and willpower?
Great! Let’s begin!
Step 1:

- Make a tripod with your hands and weak leg (most likely your left).
- The tripod should make an equilateral triangle shape if you’re a math person. If not, it should still make an equilateral triangle.
- Put your strong leg (the leg that’s not a part of your tripod) on the matching elbow. Right goes with right, left goes with left. Your elbow will be your “shelf” to rest your knee on.
Step 2:
- Make sure the leg that’s resting on your elbow is lifted completely off the ground and you are stable.
- Slowly lift your other leg up, keeping it relatively straight.
- Maintain your balance while supporting your body with your two hands. You should feel pressure on your “rest” elbow.
Step 3:

- Slowly lift up your hand that your knee isn’t resting on. Focus on keeping your knee on your elbow and not collapsing that arm.
- Should you lose control of your balance, try not to land too hard on your knee, especially on hardwood. It hurts.
Just keep at it and don’t give up. I’ve been learning this freeze for about 2 weeks and still can only hold it for about 1 second under the best circumstances. Heck, my instructor can barely hold it for 3!
Just another tip: It’s okay to start out with one arm grabbing a chair or something to support yourself. Once you’re stable, you can slowly release the chair and Airbaby that way.
Enjoy your spring break, everyone!
